Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui opened up about his excitement for Thamma, his upcoming horror-comedy film. What makes this project extra special for him is that it’s the first time his children — daughter Shora and son Yani — will be able to watch him on the big screen, says Nawaz in a recent conversation with HT City
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also best known for his intense and critically acclaimed performances in titles like Sacred Games, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Raman Raghav 2.0, Nawazuddin has also appeared in mainstream, family-friendly films such as The Lunchbox, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, Heropanti 2, and Raees. However, Thamma marks the first time he feels comfortable having his children see him in a film.
“I’m especially excited about Thamma because the world we shot in is something we only used to read about in old folk tales,” said the 51-year-old actor. “And most of the films I do aren’t really suitable for kids. This is the first one that my children will actually be able to enjoy,” he shared with a smile.
Thamma is the latest addition to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU), created by producer Dinesh Vijan. The film stars Nawazuddin alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Previous successful films in the MHCU include Stree and Munjya, which have contributed to redefining the horror-comedy space in Indian cinema. Praising the franchise, Nawazuddin said, “If you look at the MHCU, from Stree till now, the kind of talented actors coming together for a horror film is something we didn’t see before. Bringing such actors together is truly impressive.”
With Thamma, Nawazuddin steps into a more playful, family-oriented role while becoming part of a cinematic universe that continues to blend horror and comedy in fresh, innovative ways.
