Vivek Oberoi and Sanjay Gupta shared a notable creative association through two crime dramas that became part of Hindi cinema’s popular gangster film genre. Their first major collaboration was Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), which was produced by Gupta under his White Feather Films banner and directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Vivek portrayed gangster Maya Dolas in the film, delivering a performance that remains one of the prominent roles in his career.
The actor and filmmaker reunited for Shootout at Wadala (2013), which was written and directed by Gupta. The film continued the franchise’s exploration of Mumbai’s underworld and police encounters, bringing back the gritty crime-drama format associated with the series.
Vivek’s tribute comes as the film fraternity continues to remember Gupta and his contribution to Hindi cinema. The filmmaker was laid to rest at Pawan Hans Crematorium, where members of the industry gathered to pay their last respects. His body of work, particularly his crime dramas and stylised approach to filmmaking, remains an important part of his cinematic legacy.
