Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, who are currently enjoying their marital bliss, recently celebrated their first Ganesh Chaturthi. It seems that the couple were a part of the celebrations and were seen enjoying these festivities together, they shared about the moment on social media and also penned a heartfelt about being an inter-faith couple who respect and adapt to each other’s belief systems.
In the video, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are seen performing the aarti of the Lord Ganesha idol and are also seen posing with the beautifully decorated idol. While Sonakshi shined in a blue Anarkali with extensive white prints whereas Zaheer too donned an ethnic avatar in a simple light blue-and-white kurta – pyjama. Along with sharing the video, the couple also penned a sweet note on marriage and love as they said, “Love grows in respect, when a couple honors each others beliefs in true harmony…Our first Ganpati after shaadi <3”.
Their post seems to have resonated with many netizens as they took to the platform to share their comments. “This is what I like accepting and embracing each other’s religion and the rituals and ignore the world”, said one of the users whereas another one addressed the constant trolls the couple were subjected to and added, “Its huge slap on faces of those who were talking rubbish about their marriage bcoz of his religion!!!”

For the unversed, ever since Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot on June 23, the couple has been facing backlash from many netizens. The latter have been sharing their displeasure over their inter-faith marriage. Sinha’s father, who is not only a renowned politician but also an actor, Shatrughan Sinha asserted that he is happy with the choice of her daughter. However, that did not stop these social media users from trolling the newlyweds over their difference in religion.
Speaking of the wedding, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in a private and intimate ceremony in Mumbai. Followed by their low-key celebrations, the couple also hosted a lavish reception at the rooftop Bastian in South Mumbai for their friends and colleagues from the industry.
