Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial The Kashmir Files was released in theatres on March 11. The film clashed with Prabhas starrer Radhe Shyam. While it opened with limited screens, the overwhelming response to the film led to an increase in the screen count of the film across the country. The film surprised all at the box office with its extraordinary performance. After the success of the film, Vivek Agnihotri and actor Pallavi Joshi attended a press conference for the film in Delhi where they spoke about their film and its success. At the press conference, Vivek requested all to not associate the success of the film with his name.
“I hail from a middle-class family from a small town and did not even know English. I am the son of a teacher. I don't have a broad understanding of success. I will remain what I was and will continue to be the same person,” he said adding, “But who's success is this? Today as we landed at the airport, we saw the same joy on the security guard's face that we get to see on a mother's face after the birth of her child. Even the people who ride the carts at the airport or serve at Starbucks reacted to our presence. But the elite people in coats and suits would see us, recognise us, but wouldn't say anything. Some people would come running to us with joy. I would like to categorically put on the record that this success is not mine alone. If you have even a little respect for me, do not associate the success of the film with me. I am just a medium. Such things happen with the blessing of Goddess Saraswati, there is a divine force behind this, whether you agree or not. I believe in it.”
As for the film, it narrates the story of the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, among others. Several artists from the film industry have also praised the film.
