A deleted scene from Robert Pattinson's The Batman, that was previously teased by the film’s director Matt Reeves, has been released featuring Robert Pattinson's caped crusader and Barry Keoghan's take on the Joker.
On March 24, Matt Reeves posted a link to a special website where fans can watch the 5-minute-long clip upon answering three riddles, however, the deleted scene has also been made available on YouTube. The scene reveals more about the complicated relationship between Dark Knight and The Joker (Barry Keoghan) and features a longer interaction between the two. In the scene Robert Pattinson’s Batman meets the Joker at Arkham Asylum to seek his help in finding out the identity of the Riddler (Paul Dano).

The scene happens before Batman arrests the Riddler, which leads to the film’s epic conclusion. In the film's theatrical cut, Keoghan's version of the Clown Prince of Crime only appears briefly towards the end of the film, when the Joker greets the Riddler once the puzzle master is imprisoned in Arkham Asylum.
Coming back to the deleted scene, it implies that the Joker is in Arkham Asylum after being arrested by the Batman and the pair seem to know each other. The scene also allows us to take a better look at the disfigured body of Keoghan's Joker, including a nasty scar which seems to be inspired by Heath Ledger’s take on the villain. In this iteration, Joker teases Batman that perhaps he has more in common with the Riddler than he cares to admit.
Just like any other scene, the clip shows a detective visiting an imprisoned psychopath and using him to get information and find the new killer. What's intriguing is the palpable sense of history between the two new iterations of the characters, despite their short time together on screen. As Entertainment Weekly notes, there's also a new layer of context to this kind of scene because, in the world of The Batman, we learn that Bruce Wayne's mother was descended from the Arkham family that founded this criminal asylum (and likely spent some time in there herself).
Matt Reeves’ The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, is currently playing in theaters. Set in “Year Two” of Bruce Wayne as Batman, the film also features Zoë Kravitz as the thief Catwoman, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Andy Serkis as Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.
