Since her debut in 1997, South Korean dimpled-beauty Shin Min Ah has captured hearts of fans far and wide. She has acted in several dramas and movies, thus setting a place for herself in the K-drama world. Since 2003 she has acted in main roles in a bunch of popular K-Dramas like Tomorrow With You and Chief of Staff being the most recent ones. After a gap of two years from the K-Dramas, Shin Min Ah has made a breezy comeback with Hometown Cha Cha Cha starring alongside Kim Seon Ho.

CHIEF OF STAFF 1&2 (2019)

She plays the role of Song Ma Rin, a cheerful photographer. Lee Je Hoon plays Yoon Soo Jun, the CEO of a successful real estate firm who can time travel. He marries Song Ma Rin in order to change his future, but the two eventually fall in love. Time travel is a tricky matter, and it can lead to multi-fold effect in the people’s lives. It causes quite a bit of chaos in the lead couple’s lives, and that’s what forms the crux of the story.
OH MY VENUS (2015)
A handsome personal trainer meets a gorgeous lawyer in this drama! So Ji Sub plays Kim Yeong Ho, a personal trainer for Hollywood stars, who comes back to South Korea after a scandal. He meets Kang Joo Eun, a bubbly and cheerful lawyer who was dubbed as ‘Daegu’s Venus’ for her youthful looks. Over the years she became overweight and was also dumped by her boyfriend. Thus meet our lead couple, to help the leading lady get back in shape and reclaim her title as ‘Daegu’s Venus’. A lot more than just training happens during the training session as our lead couple slowly grow close together and eventually fall in love! A fun, quirky romance drama with typical plot points, Oh My Venus is a good option for a quick binge!
ARANG AND THE MAGISTRATE (2012)
Are you looking for a little bit of history mixed with little bit of mystery? Then Arang and the Magistrate is the story for you. The drama is studded with stars like Lee Joon Gi, Shin Min Ah and Yeon Woo Jin in main roles. Shin Min Ah plays the role of a virgin ghost named Arang who meets Kim Eun Ho (played by Lee Joon Gi), a magistrate out to find his mother. Arang and Eun Ho join forces to uncover the mystery around Arang’s death. Stellar acting, intriguing plot line and great chemistry make Arang and the Magistrate a worthwhile drama.
MY GIRLFRIEND IS A GUMIHO (2010)
Shin Min Ah and Lee Seung Gi pair up for this quirky supernatural romance. Shin Min Ah plays the role of a Gumiho (nine tailed fox) named Gildal who is accidentally set free by Cha Dae Woong (played by Lee Seung Gi). She saves him and he agrees to help her become human, but soon fall in love with each other. If you’re looking for a cute and quirky supernatural romance, then this has to be your next pick! Shin Min Ah and Lee Seung Gi both did a commendable in portraying their characters and displayed superb on-screen chemistry.
LUCIFER (2007)
Lucifer is a crime investigative drama with loads of mystery and twists. Shin Min Ah plays the role of a psychic Seo Hae In who can perform a reading on an object. She helps detective Kang Oh Soo (played by Uhm Tae Woong) with a murder case. Ju Ji Hoon, whom we saw recently in Kingdom, plays the role of Oh Seung Ha, a defense attorney. As the plot thickens, stories from the past come to light and it adds to the scheming plot.
A LOVE TO KILL (2005)
A classic enemies-to-lovers plotline, Love To Kill stars Rain as Kang Bok Gu, a tough K-1 fighter. He wants to seek revenge from Cha Eun Seok, a movie actress who broke up with his brother. His brother then fell off a roof top, and landed in nursing facility. But as it happens in any K-drama, Cha Eun Seok’s separation from his brother was a result of a misunderstanding unbeknownst to the male lead. Kang Bok Gu is in a mix because on one hand he wants to seek revenge, but on the other he is falling in love. Since the plot is enemies-to-lovers, one can expect tragic moments in the drama, and a gut-wrenching melodrama as well. One of the early gems from Shin Min Ah’s filmography, A Love To Kill will satiate your appetite for angst, betrayal and forbidden love.
BONUS: DIVA (2020)
Shin Min Ah did a stunning job in the movie Diva. Shin Min Ah plays the role of a talented diver named Lee Yeong. She switches to synchronized swimming to be with her best friend Soo Jin. The duo immerses themselves in Olympics selection practice. Soon the two are involved in a freak accident which causes Soo Jin’s disappearance and Lee Yeong’s memory loss. What comes later forms the crux of the story. Touted as one of the best releases of 2020, Diva is a movie to watch if you like thrilling plot twists and top notch acting.
Meanwhile, Shin Min Ah has made a comeback after a brief hiatus with a slice of life rom-com Hometown Cha Cha Cha which is receiving rave reviews. The series stars Kim Seo Ho opposite her.
